Saint-Petersburg Fashion Week Defile na Neve S/S 2011

22nd Defile na Neve fashion week took place during October 7-10 in Saint-Petersburg (there were several shows off this schedule, the last one happened on October, 30th). 22 Russian and Latvian designers presented their spring-summer 2011 collections in beautiful historic buildings and museums.

An interesting fact: there are now two fashion weeks in Saint-Petersburg. Aurora fashion week, a very new thing, will happen for the second time this fall during November 14 – 20. Puzzled? Don’t be: Moscow has even more weeks! It is a good old Russian tradition and I will tell you all about it later.

Here is my list of Defile na Neve S/S 2011 best collections:

1. Stas Lopatkin “The Abduction of Europa”.
This collection’s theme is travel… but even more so it is time travel – to old Saint-Petersburg, the city of tall ships and sailors.  If I were a tourist, I would definitely snatch one of those dresses printed with ships as a souvenir.

2. Lilia Kisselenko “Collection #27″.
Well-to-do crowd loves Kisselenko for more than 15 years. A woman can never have too much black clothes if she lives in Saint-Petersburg…

3. Mila Vasilyeva “Time Diagonal”
Mila describes her style as “vintage and art-fashion”. She uses such techniques as: handmade embroidery, antique style lacework, vintage style beadwork and painting on natural silk, velvet and organza. Stunning detail shots at milavasilyeva.com

4. Polina Raudson‘s 2nd collection “Save the Butterflies” is all about fantasy, lightness…. and mix-and-match. It is a complete woman’s wardrobe, very well put together, with clothes for every occasion. It even has leggings.

5. Vladislav Aksenov “Black 4 People”.
There are very few Russian designers who makes clothes exclusively for men, and just a handful of them do it with a goal of changing Russian men’s appearance and way of thinking. I can only imagine how this collection had blown people’s minds away in Saint-Petersburg.
