Ukrainian Fashion Week: Day 1
Get this party started!
I’m very excited about Russian-Ukrainian fashion month that began almost simultaneously in Moscow and Kiev. This “month”, how I like to call it, will consist of four official weeks and two fashion events, plus Saint Petersburg’s Aurora Fashion Week that has chosen to stand out of the crowd and will run in May.
POUSTOVIT
Lilia Poustovit was inspired by the aria ‘Casta Diva’ from Bellini’s Norma. In this aria Norma, the Druidess, appeals to the forces of nature, and Lilia seems to be doing just the same by expanding her usual neutral color palette with rich hues of red, orange, green and blue.
Viktoria Gres
The collection has strong vintage vibes and, evidently, caters to mature women. But Gres ladies never lunch, they ride bikes and listen to The Clash and Ramones. At least, that’s what my impression was when I saw all those lace, fur and velvet pieces spiced up with yellow tights and green hair (or vice versa).
Nota Bene & Karavay
Irina Karavay explored a rare subject – pixel art of the 90s, tastefully using it as a decoration on mainly dark clothes, in accessories and knitwear patterns.
Anisimov
The designer stayed true to his signature “bookworm” look. Great wearable collection of both men- and womenswear but so…… colorless.
a.Tan
Bold young designer Andre Tan presented his second line for the first time. Fresh, sporty yet feminine looks – something we would totally expect from him.
