Igor Chapurin About Russian Fashion Industry
An interview with Chapurin under a curious title ‘No More Gzhel and Fur Hats!’
Well, I can tell that he is older than me because I remember none of those. I don’t remember “Soviet uniformity” mentioned in the article either… At the time I went to school and began to care how I look, I saw the birth of the trends’ concept in Russia. A trend was usually started not on the catwalk, but rather on the TV screen and the next season every market selling made-in-China goods was stuffed with similar looking clothes. There were no boutiques, no Internet to point us in the right direction…
Some 20 years have passed since then, Russia has totally changed and I guess people all over the world are already getting it. As this interview was originally published in Russian I can also guess that, paradoxically, it is Russians who still needs to forget.
