Fall 2012 Fashion Trends

…as seen on Russian and Ukrainian catwalks.

Fall/winter 2012 fashion is full of contrasts. Black and red, military and ladylike, brocade and sheer fabrics go hand in hand, defining women’s style during times of economic uncertainty.

Rounded/boxy shoulders

We are in the 2010s now which means shoulder seams can be found anywhere but on shoulders (or even not at all). Oversized doesn’t always mean masculine or sporty; in fact, this season we have quite a choice!

Capes

Capes and ponchos of all shapes and lengths flooded the catwalks, representing the pinnacle of the ’rounded shoulders’ trend.

All-black

After two seasons of the crazy prints hoopla I certainly feel like going back to basics. There is so much more to black than the LBD, and this season designers celebrated its each and every meaning.

Snow White

On the flip side, there is another timeless favorite! But I cannot say I’m dying to have a white coat… let’s invent a dirt-resisting fabric first.

Peplum

Personally I don’t think this highly feminine detail will ever go out of fashion completely. After all, if we have an emphasis on the upper torso this season, can we please have something to balance it?

Covered cleavage

This lovely micro-trend is very practical. If you ever attempted to wear anything low-cut at 5 ºF you would know what I mean.
